For those of you looking to get into HDTV there has never been a better time to replace your old TV set. With LCD and Plasma TV Manufacturers battling it out for dominance in the HDTV market there are loads of good deals around. To help you make the decision there are a number of interactive tools available including one from LG Electronics here.

HDTVtest also has a system to recommend a HDTV based on your viewing habits for the important entry level HDTV they recommend the LG 42PG6000 42 Inch Plasma TV which we have on offer.

The LG 42PG6000 42 inch plasma television should make the shortlist of anyone looking to acquire a flat screen HDTV for less than £600. the LG 42PG6000 has a “frameless” design which scooped up the “Best Of Innovation” award at CES 2008 in Las Vegas,

Are you not sure which HDTV will suit your needs? LG TV Guide helps you choose the right LCD or Plasma HDTV to best suit your needs. By answering 8 simple questions the LG TV Guide will suggest a HDTV based on your answers.

The first question is about what size TV you are looking for, you have four choices here, small, medium, large and super large for +47 inch HDTV. This question more or less decides what the final suggestion will be.

Then you are asked what will be the primarily plan to use your HDTV, five choices here, with options ranging from movies to PC monitors.

Third question is a rather strange one, but according to LG is very important to improve your viewing experience, in this question you are asked as to what viewing receiver you will connect you LG HDTV to, again five choices here, you can choose from Sky HD, Sky +, Virgin Cable and even Analogue TV.

Fourth question doesn’t really influence much on the final result so we’ll skip that one. On the fifth question LG asks you how many HDMI sockets do you need, if you chosen smaller sized HDTVs you options are limited to two choices, with bigger sizes you will have four choices to choose from.

Sixth and Seventh question are rather similar because you are asked if intend in connecting a Blu-ray player or a high definition gaming console.

And finally for the eighth and final question LG asks if you intend on wall mounting your LG HDTV.

This is a pretty neat TV Guide by LG, but in my opinion LG missed out a really important question. LG forgot to ask what type of HDTV you are looking for Plasma or LCD.

For the latest 42 inch plasma HDTV, Panasonic created the 42-inch TC-P42G10 Viera G10 Series Plasma for those who demand the best possible viewing experience. The new G10 Series boast cinema-quality movie reproduction, clear, smooth sports and gaming action as well as Web entertainment

The Panasonic 42” Plasma HD TV is THX certified and other features include a 600Hz Sub-field Drive for fast processing video signals. It has the new feature “Infinite Black” that Panasonic is touting as its new black level.

This 42inch plasma TV comes with the company’s internet media player, VieraCast which allows you to pull up a series of web widgets with the simple push of a button, nothing groundbreaking here, but it is nice to have access to your Picassa and Flickr accounts or watch videos from your favorite video sharing site on your HDTV.

Panasonic TC-P42G10 Viera G10 Series Plasma 1080p resolution combines with a 480 Hz processor to bring you exceptional clarity and smooth, fluid motion, even during high-speed action.

With all these features, The Panasonic G10 series HD TV have the qualifications to be a perfect heir to the vacant plasma king’s throne, now that Pioneer has left the plasma business.

What do you think? Is Panasonic a worthy heir to the vacant Plasma TV throne?

According to the latest figures from Ofcom, over 18 million British homes now have at least one television connected to a digital receiver.

Personal video recorders, which combine a Freeview digital tuner with the ability to pause, rewind and record live television, are especially popular, with one million devices being sold from January to march 2009 alone.

The Telegraph report that there are now almost nine million PVRs in UK homes, five million of which are Sky+ boxes, 2.6 million are Freeview recorders, and the rest are comprised of BT Vision, Virgin Media V+ and Top Up TV set-top boxes.

It means that most homes in the UK are ready for the digital switch over in 2012 and several areas of the country have already had their analogue service disconnected and are now digital-only.

Are you part of the 90% who have already made the switch over or are you still holding on to the traditional analogue??

If you are up-to-date then the new digital TV channels can look pretty impressive on an LCD or Plasma Television, particularly if its in HD.

AJ Electronics retail a full range of Plasma and LCD Televisions, for the full range please click here.

DisplaySearch annual look at global pricing of LCD TVs and Plasma TVs, show the biggest drop in price for LCD TVs was in Europe, followed by China, North America and Japan, dropping 20%, 16% and 4%. The price of plasma TVs fell 27% comparing September 2007 to September 2008 while older CRT based TV prices actually rose by 4%.

In general, larger screens saw more price drops with 52in LCD TV prices coming down almost 30% in the past year while prices for 20in LCD TVs fell by just 4%.
Strangely, while we all complain about Japan getting all the coolest tech and gadgets first. DisplaySearch found that Japan continued to have the highest LCD TV pricing during September in almost all screen sizes – on average 25% higher!
